It�s a Friday evening and Angel is sitting in his dark office practicing his brooding as Doyle enters and comments that a Friday night is for being out on the town. He asks Angel to put in a good word for him to Cordy, just keep the demon half part out. Cordelia arrives with their new business cards in hand but is their logo a butterfly, or bird or owl but she assures him it�s an Angel. Suddenly, Doyle receives a vision of a nightclub and a feeling that something is going to happen. The crew finally has an excuse for a night on the town and head out to help the helpless.
Inside the nightclub, D�Oblique, a handsome guy walks up to a young woman, sitting nervously by the bar and introduces himself as Kevin. Sharon is a homely blonde and he starts up the conversation, �God I really hate places like this. Don�t you?� She smiles back.
Act I:
At the nightclub, Kevin and Sharon continue chatting. Cordy gives out their new business cards to the people sitting at the tables. An attractive blonde starts talking to Angel by the bar and asks if she is in need of rescuing. In another part of the bar, Cordy and Doyle are conversing on his vague visions as a guy walks up to them and starts hitting on Cordy. Angel and Kate talk about trusting people and making a connection. The guy hitting on Cordy calls her a hooker and Doyle a pimp and a fight breaks out. A fiend joins the guy and Angel backs up Doyle. Another girl starts hitting on Angel, as Kate looks on. Kate leaves and Angel makes a note of it.
In Kevin�s bedroom, Sharon rises to leave but he stops her and she stays in bed.
Back at the nightclub, Doyle, Cordy and Angel sit around a table chatting about Doyle�s vision as the bar is closing. Cordy reminds Angel about curse that kills any relationship, really. Angel is grateful for Cordy�s insight as they leave the club. Back at Kevin�s bedroom, the sheets are bloodied and Sharon is dressed in red that could kill and her �do is sexied up. Kevin is sprawled on the bed and this doesn�t seem to bother Sharon at all.
Act II:
In the office, Cordy and Angel search the web for a common link to missing people, which ends up being the nightclub, D�Oblique. One victim�s eviscerated body was found in a dumpster but he was last seen at the club just like another missing girl. Angel asks Doyle to search the library downstairs for eviscerating demons. He�s returning to the club.
Later, Angel arrives at the club and bumps into Kate outside and warns her not go inside because it isn�t safe. Kate�s an independent woman and tells him she can go wherever she wants to go and trots inside. Once inside Angel settles at the bar and watches Kate sipping a drink at the bar. Next to Kate, a stunning Sharon is talking to a guy that seems flattered that a girl like her is talking to him. Near Angel, a guy walks up to he bartender and asks about Kevin because he didn�t show up to work. The bartender is sure that Kevin hooked up with a girl last night.
Back at the office, Cordy and Doyle are researching eviscerating demons but they aren�t having any luck. Doyle remarks that there are some good demons, but Cordy isn�t buying it.
At the bar, the bartender reveals Sharon as the girl Kevin hooked up with but she leaves with her new guy before the bartender can point her out. Angel gets her last name and quickly leaves to look up her address in the phone book as Kate looks on.
In Sharon�s bedroom, it seems that our new guy didn�t perform up to par and she asks him to rollover and gets real close as Angel runs through the streets on his way to her apartment.
As Sharon holds him close from behind, a long parasite like demon emerges from her chest and impales itself inside his body through the back. Angel arrives just in time to see the last bit of the demon enter the man as he is getting dressed. Angel sees Sharon is sprawled on the bed, dead. The demon senses that Angel is not human and reveals that he needs a host to survive and will only stop until he finds the right body. The current one is already dying slowly and needs to find another. A fight ensues and the demon is very strong and brings Angel down for a few moments, while it makes a quick getaway. Angel rises to follow but Kate surprises him with a badge and a gun, pointing at him. It looks bad for Angel.
Act III:
Kate introduces herself as L.A.P.D. and Angel as a private investigator that can�t muster up a license. Angel tries to tell her it's not what it looks like but she believes him to be the killer. As She starts to cuff him but he quickly over powers her and jumps out the window and runs down the street. Kate stares out the window and outside the ledge we can see the demon on the ledge. She heads down but it�s too late.
At Cordy�s apartment, she and Doyle arrive with research books in hand and wait for Angel as he instructed. After Doyle remarks on Cordy�s living in the moment mess and run down boudoir, Angel arrives and Cordy invites him in. Angel too notices Cordy�s less than luxurious living space. He informs them that the demon is a 'burrower' demon and asks them to find any of its weaknesses because it was amazingly strong. Angel heads back to the club where the demon-host will be trying to make another connection.
In a collage, we see the demon-host is talking to a girl at the bar while Kate trespasses into the Angel Investigations offices. Angel returns to the club and combs through the tables looking for the demon host but it�s too late. The demon host has already found it�s next victim and after making a connection, eviscerates a beautiful young Asian woman in bed. Dawn is near and Angel, having no luck, heads back to Cordy�s apartment.
At Cordy�s place, Angel enters to find her and Doyle asleep on her couch after a late night research session. They find out that the demon a Talamour, which is very strong and ancient demon but its one weakness is fire. Angel decides to call Kate and asks her to work together but she still suspects him. They agree to meet at the club.
At the nightclub, Kate sits at a table and asks the bartender to alert when Angel comes in. A guy quickly begins to hit on Kate but she�s not interested, luckily, the bartender returns to tell her that Angel is out in the back in the alley. She quickly follows the bartender but as they reach back room, he hits her overhead with a bottle. Kate goes down with a problem.
Act IV:
Luckily, just as the demon is about to eviscerate Kate through the back, Angel surprises him with a stick to the head. Kate awakens to see Angel fight the host but it manages to lock both of them in the basement and lock the door. He returns inside the club, desperately searching for a new host but the body is quickly deteriorating. He tries several times but he fails, the blood on shirt and falling skin are not too attractive. Meanwhile, Angel and Kate try to find a way out of the basement. She shoots out the lock with an extra gun she keeps strapped to her ankle.
In the club, the host decides to leave the bar and heads into the streets as Kate and Angel quickly follow and split up to cover more ground. The host attacks a girl and drags her down an alley but Angel catches up and fights the demon. Our vamp with a soul, spots a trashcan fire and throws the host on it and it quickly catches on fire. The demon begins to scream but it still has some strength. Kate runs up and shoots the host before it can attack Angel again.
Moments later, the ordeal is over and the fire department cleans up the alley and the ambulance takes the body away as Kate and Angel talk form a reconciliation. She never realized it was the bartender and he doesn�t correct her but instead gives her his business card. She confesses that she searched his apartment illegally. They part ways when Kate is called by one of the investigators. Angel disappears into the shadows of the nearby alley.
At the office, Angel suggests a night on the town, but Cordy and Doyle know Angel really isn�t the going out type and they decide to go home, leaving Angel to his dark office. Angel is relieved and he sits in his chair as the leaving pair turns off the lights. Angel relaxes and enjoys another quiet night at Angel Investigations.
