He starts walking to fall in line with them as the edge of the mirrors are reached and the camera pans onto the fang gang. * Angel's crew enter in a gym. Immediately after showing a series of images where is clear that Angel produces no reflection, he kicks one big mirror; for a few frames, the foot's reflection is visible on the mirror. * After Angel defeats the demons in the gym, a mirror catches his reflection. * When Angel is snapping Prio Motu's neck, you can see a microphone at the top of the screen. * When Angel is fighting the Prio at 15:22, you can see someone in a blue short sleeved shirt to the right side, probably one of the crew members.

Episode 1 Title: "Judgement"
Teleplay by David Greenwalt Story by Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt Directed by Michael Lange Original Air Date: 26 September, 2000
SYNOPSIS:
Teaser
At a karaoke bar, the demon MC is singing, "I Will Survive." Superimposed with the singing is a collage of images of the city of angel: photographers at a glamorous premiere, the face of a Mora demon and the gritty streets. The MC ends with a commentary: "It's all part of the big, whacky variety show we call Los Angeles."
Cordy is in her acting class. She completes a scene and is complimented by her teacher. Cordelia's acting has improved dramatically. Her beeper goes off: 911. Duty calls, she says, and dashes out the door.
Wesley is at the local bar, playing a game of darts against two guys and winning easily. The game is interrupted when his beeper goes off: 911. He grabs his winnings and runs out, but not before checking out a beautiful blonde!
Angel, Cordelia and Wesley walk into a gym, intent on interrupting a praetorian sacrifice by Carnyss demons that love muscles and mirrors -- hence the location. They’re followed by a gym employee, who tr to tell them the club is for members only. He stops when he notices Angel's missing reflection, and can only stare in shock as the vampire crashes a piece of gym equipment through the mirror. With a vamp face, Angel beholds the Carnyss demons in the middle of their ritual, with their innocent victims tied down. Angel and Wesley attack and Cordelia helps untie the would-be sacrifices. Angel walks back into the gym, where the staffer is mumbling something about the demon’s horns. "Steroids. Not good for you," Angel replies, without breaking stride.
Act I
The gang is hard at work at Cordelia's apartment, where they have a white board set up with the cases they’re working on. Cordy and Wes are still wondering what was raised by Wolfram & Hart, while Angel is playing with Cordy's glass figurines, contemplating joining a gym. He may need to, he reasons, since he'll be human one day. Cordelia pauses, and Angel and Wesley lunge to catch her, thinking it’s a vision… but it’s just a sneeze. Angel picks up the figurine he dropped when reaching for Cordelia, who questions why they can't work out of Wesley's apartment. She sneezes again, then is hit by a vision: It's an N.D.O.U. --- Nasty Demon of Unknown Origin.
At Wolfram & Hart, Lilah walks into Lindsey's office to check on Darla. Lindsey has turned on a classical piece, "Prelude No. 20 in C Minor," for Darla's pleasure. Darla says she can sense Angel, and remembers dying at his hand. Lindsey steps in to let her know that Angel has to pay for what he did to both of them. Darla says she wants to see Angel.
At Cordy's apartment, Angel is attempting to draw a picture of the demon that Cordelia saw in her vision. Wesley is guessing what it could be and tries to get a book named The Suleman's Compendium, but Phantom Dennis throws a book at him out of nowhere. Cordelia reprimands Wesley for shouting in surprise, and explains that Dennis is much more than a ghost and is sensitive. She then catches a glimpse of a sketch in the book in Wesley's hands, and spots the exact demon that was in her vision. It's a Prio Motu Demon, an ancient ofga beast, bred to maim and massacre. Angel goes to the whiteboard and erases "N.D.O.U." and fills in the correct name. Next step: finding it. Wesley says he’s been "broadening the contact base" and knows a parasite demon named Merl, who hangs out at a safe place for demons and could help them.
Act II
The Karaoke bar is called Caritas, which is Latin for "mercy." A demon named Liz, who looks like a lizard, is singing. The bar is a sanctuary; demons are required to leave any weapons at the door, and can visit without fear of danger from mortals or other demons. Liz is brought aside by the MC, who starts to read her aura.
Wesley sits next to Merl, a greenish demon who gets all nervous because he knows Angel's rep. Wes lays out an envelope with money and asks about the location of the Prio. But Merl asks for more money, explaining that Prios are dangerous stone cold killers. Wesley obliges, and Merl tells them the Prio is probably traveling in the subtunnels off the Redondo line.
On the way out, the MC asks Angel to sing, but the vampire refuses. Angel is put off by him. Wesley explains to Cordelia that the host is anagogic — he’s psychic and connected to the mystic. When you sing, you bare your soul, and the MC can then read it. The MC explains to Angel that it's not about the singing, it’s about the spirit. The demon gives it one last try and gives Angel a warning: There's always that feeling of smooth sailing right before a fall. Angel's pride takes the best of him and he proclaims: "There's three things I don't do: tan, date and sing in public." He walks out.
In the subtunnel, Angel is looking around carefully, when he sees a pregnant woman walking about. She is startled by Angel, but out of nowhere comes the Prio demon. A fight ensues and Angel breaks the demon’s neck. Angel reassures the woman that's it’s dead. She starts to cry and kneels by the dead Prio's body. The vampire can only stare, stunned, as she begins to caress the demon's face in mourning.
Act III
Angel begins to apologize, clearly shaken. He tries to explain why he was there. She begins to walk away, telling him that he killed her one friend and protector, and she doesn't want his help. She mentions a tribunal. Angel tries to help her, but she walks off.
Back at the apartment, Angel gives Cordy and Wes the 411 on what happened. The demon had a change of heart and became a soldier, like Angel. They try to figure out what went wrong while contemplating their new dilemma. Cordy is rethinking her vision. Angel is still replaying what he did in his head. He’s determined to find the woman and help her, and declares the Prio's mission is now his. He asks Cordy and Wesley to find out more information. Angel heads out to find Merl, because he realizes the informant misled them.
In a dark street, Angel manhandles Merl against a metal fence. Merl sings like a canary. There’s a price on the woman's head and the baby she carries, he explains. The baby girl is supposed to be very special, and the dark ones want her dead. Merl tells Angel the Prio lived somewhere in Boyle Heights, underground. Angel hurries off, hoping to save her from any demons out to collect on the bounty money.
A gang walks out into a street, where a man is trying to open the door to his car. He sees them and starts to run off, telling them to take the car. He's too busy being scared when he runs right up to a vamp. The man’s about to become a snack when Gunn stakes the bloodsucker. Freaked out, the man runs off without even a thank you! Angel walks out of an alley and asks Gunn for a favor. Because Gunn has lived in the tunnels, Angel asks him where the Prio might have lived. Gunn offers to help him find the place.
While walking through tunnels, they spot a large, airless vent. The vent opens into a living place. They have a look around and Angel finds a coat of arms hidden in a secret compartment of a wooden box. He also finds the name of the Prio demon: Kamal. Angel gives the coat of arms to Gunn and tells him to deliver it to Cordy and Wes. The vampire stays behind and lights a candle for Kamal as he recalls the images of the demon’s death. He hears a noise and pulls out a samurai sword … on the pregnant woman. She tells him to get out, but Angel informs her that she is his mission now. She tells him she was once a stocker at a Costco and shows her frustration at her daughter's predicted future as a seer -- a situation that she doesn't really understand. Angel calms her by telling her it's his job to help, and even gives her one of his cards. He seems to be getting through to her. She explains that she needs to find the coat of arms and present it to the tribunal -- maybe she'll have a chance and the tribunal will call off its plans. Angel smiles and describes it. She becomes excited, but gets frustrated when he explains it's not with him right then. Upset, she opens the vent door to leave. A demon is waiting on the other side and attacks her. Angel fights off the demon, and they run.
At Cordy's, Gunn comes in and delivers the talisman. The situation is a little tense since it's the first time he’s met Wes and Cordy. Gunn divulges that he protected them while they were in the hospital. His sense of humor puts them at ease. He takes a look at the whiteboard and they chat.
Act IV
Angel and the expectant mother are running beneath the tunnels. Angel decides to go up and they find themselves in an old hotel, which Angel has visited before. He seems enthralled, then asks her for more information. She tells him that the tribunal is an other-worldly court that can save her and her daughter, but she needs the talisman in order to go before them. She explains that Kamal told her he was to be her champion. Angel is determined to save her, but two more demons catch up to them. He tells her to go to the address on the card. She runs out and Angel stays to fight off the demons.
When Angel returns to Cordelia’s, he expects the pregnant woman to be there already, and becomes frustrated when she's not there. Angel has a crisis and finally admits that he thought he'd made it already. The promise of becoming human was within his reach, and he let it go to his head. Cordy comforts him and assures him that she'll always be there for him. Both realize the prophecy is not going to happen anytime soon. Wes comes in with the background information. It's a medieval coat of arms needed to be presented before the ancient court that settles grievances with a fight to the death. Wesley points out that these events are mystical, and the location is not exact. Angel is determined to save her and he'll do anything . . . A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G.
And at Caritas, presenting, Angel The Vampire with Soul!!! "Oh, Mandy. Well, you came and you gave without takin.' And I sent you away . . ." Angel looks as pained as those watching him belt out an off-key version of the Barry Manilow tune. He finishes, and the MC pulls him aside and starts to read him: Angel made an honest mistake, he says, but things don't look too good for the mother. After Angel admits he chose to sing "Mandy" because he thought it was pretty he gets the location: 4th and Spring.
The expectant mother is walking down the middle of 4th and Spring when the tribunal rises from the ground. A fully armored knight rides up before the tribunal and throws the coat of arms on the ground as a challenge. The woman asks for asylum and is refused by the tribunal; she doesn't have the coat of arms and no champion, so she must forfeit her life. The knight comes to her but just then the other metal badge is thrown on the ground. Angel declares himself her champion.
She tries to get reassurances from Angel, because all she’s seen from him isn't too good. He mounts the horse and arms himself with a shield and a lance. Both champions charge each other with the lances in the air. Angel strikes first. On the second run, he’s thrown off his horse. Angel uses his sword to pull the knight onto the ground, where they dual. A sword plunges into Angel and he falls on his knees. The tribunal declares Angel defeated and declares that the woman now belongs to the knight. The knight is about to kill her when Angel removes the sword and cuts off the knight's head. A vampire for a champion is the best kind to have! The tribunal changes their decision and declares that she and her daughter will be under their protection until the child comes of age. Both now saved, the woman and Angel walk away as the tribunal disappears.
At Cordy's apartment, the whiteboard is being put away by Angel. Wes realizes that it's about doing the job, not keeping score. Angel says he has somewhere to go.
Angel picks up the phone and on the other side of the glass, Faith picks up hers. The Slayer talks about surviving a fight in jail, and Angel talks about surviving singing Barry Manilow… no one ever said redemption was easy.
