Meanwhile, Wolfram & Hart learns that she's back among the corporeal and decides to see what she might know about life on the Higher Plane.
Trivia * The title and Lorne's comment about "slouching towards Bethlehem" come from the W.B. Yeats poem The Second Coming: "And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?"
Goofs * Revealing mistakes: After Connor supposedly jimmies the hallway window to gain access, there is obviously no lock mechanism on the window and no need to jimmy it to gain access.

Episode 4, Season 4 Title: "Slouching Toward Bethlehem"
Written by: Jeffrey Bell Directed by: Skip Schoolnik Original Air Date: 27 October 2002
Teaser:
On the outskirts of Los Angeles, a family is having car trouble. The father works under the hood when suddenly Connor appears to warn them they are in danger, but the father assures him help is on its way. Help soon arrives in the form of a tow truck but instead of a helping hand, two vamps jump out and attack. Connor dusts one of the vamps as the father tries in vain to fight them off, his wife and son lock themselves in their car. Connor pours gasoline on the remaining vamp and sets it aflame. With the fight over, Connor asks, "Is that your family?" Grateful to be alive, the father returns to the car and hugs his wife as Connor runs off to the only family he knows.
Connor easily breaks into the Hyperion Hotel and watches from behind a pillar on the first floor balcony as we pick up where the AI crew returns from Las Vegas and is met with Cordelia.
In the lobby, Fred, Gunn and Angel are astonished to find Cordelia has returned but she doesn't remember them at all. Angel thinks she is a hallucination but Gunn assures him Cordy is really there. She looks frightened as Angel confirms who they are but she has another question for them, "Who am I?"
Act I:
In the lobby, Angel asks Cordy if she recalls anything but she remembers nothing about herself or the three people standing before her. Cordy catches a glimpse of Connor as he leaves. She is very cautious around the group and keeps her distance as she senses they are not revealing the truth. Angel tells her that she works with them and that she has been gone for a while. Fred thinks that she has amnesia as Angel spots Lorne outside the door and gets Gunn to keep Lorne out of the lobby, while he and Fred go into the office to help jog her memory by looking for Cordy's things.
Inside the office, Fred wonders why Cordy is back and Angel decides to keep Cordy in the dark about the demons-are-real part of her life until she is ready for it, especially about him. Through the glass office window, Cordy watches the two as she checks out the lobby spotting a knife-like weapon on the floor. Angel and Fred wave to her and she thinks they are weird and creepy.
Fred and Angel rejoin Cordy as the phone rings, the answering machine picks up the call and she recognizes her own voice. This discovery sets her somewhat at ease for the moment. That is, until the caller mentions his little problems with a "demon broad" and Fred picks it up before he can really give the sordid details. Fred lies and explains it is a case about a nasty divorce to Cordy. She signals to Angel about the situation and runs out and gets Gunn to take care of the case, while Angel stays to help Cordy settle in.
Upstairs, Angel takes Cordy into a room with all the things they brought from her apartment. She begins to go through the boxes hoping to find something familiar to bring back a memory. Angel is anxious to help her but she wants to be alone and as he shuts the door behind him, he reminds her, "You really are among friends."
A while later, having changed into some different clothes, Cordy is on her bed practicing in front of a mirror, "Hi! I'm Cordy!" But it doesn't seem to help and she decides to thumb through her high school yearbook and finds some strange best wishes thanking her for the "flaming arrows" and another mentioning a "giant snake". Next, she picks up photos and sees her many hairstyles and thinks she is a spy but then she spots one with Angel, and she is carrying a baby in her arms. Tired of this, she decides to explore the hotel.
As Cordy walks through the hotel, she passes an open door and hears a man singing. Lorne in the room but moves before she really gets a look at his red horns and green skin. Lorne opens the door further, seeing no one but when he turns back to his client, drool is falling profusely from the client's chin.
Cordelia arrives down stairs and Angel quickly disappears with two armloads of his pig's blood before Cordy can spot him. She finds a drop of blood on the counter and things start to get scary for her. She hides behind the counter as Fred and Gunn walk in covered in demon blood discussing killing babies and how they get paid for it. She comes out in horror after some blood nearly falls on her from the axe Gunn placed on the counter. She tries to run but bumps into the weapons cabinet and swords and knives fall out. Angel catches her but she escapes through the back.
Almost out of the courtyard, Cordy is attacked by two goons from Wolfram & Hart that have come to take her away. Without a second thought, she fights extremely well and with Angel's help, who has caught up to her, runs them off. She is surprised at her skills and is fully convinced that she is a spy but Angel proves her wrong and promises that they are trying to keep her safe. Angel does his best to calm her down and he succeeds without revealing the truth.
Cordy is once again in her room and she asks Angel if she is a mom referring to the picture she saw and Angel explains that the baby is his son, Connor, but Cordy is not the mom. Angel sits next to Cordy on the bed as she continues to ask questions, particularly about them. Angel movies in for a kiss but she suddenly asks, "Was I nun?" because she found a handful of rosaries in her boxes and hands them to him. Surprised as his hands begin to burn, Angel turns vamp and scares Cordy. She screams.
Act II:
In the lobby, Cordelia stumbles onto Lorne and screams all over again. Angel and the rest of the gang catches up and stop her. Cordy finally demands the truth and they finally give it to her.
In her room, Cordy has come to grips with her Sunnydale history, Angel Investigations, visions, living in another plane, and that an evil law firm is now after her for what she might know about the future. She's not taking it too lightly. The crew convinces her to sing so that Lorne can read her destiny and Cordy belts out "The Greatest Love of All." Lorne changes to a different shade of green, not good, and stops Cordy. Lorne scurries out of the room, not wanting to reveal what he knows and Angel goes after him. Cordy knows they are lying to her again and she decides to leave.
Outside of Lorne's room, Angel knocks on the door demanding to know what the psychic crooner saw and Lorne lets him have it. Lorne uses the term "Slouching towards Bethlehem" to describe that Evil is coming and it is planning on staying. He saw only bits and pieces and it was enough to make his head ache and tummy fill with snakes.
Across town, Wesley and Lilah are in bed. She reveals that her law firm and Angel are aware of their trysts. Wes doesn't care that others know about their "relationship" and Lilah playfully demands a dollar for calling their trysts a "relationship." He pulls it out and she asks that he sign it for proof.
At the Hyperion, Cordy is once again exploring but she hears someone following and she thinks its Fred and Gunn, but to her terror it is Lorne's client. He opens his mouth four ways and reveals layers of sharp teeth.
With his super vamp hearing, Angel hears the slurping of the demon and he runs to help her.
Cordy runs into the lobby, but the demon catches up quickly and is about to get a taste of our Cordy when Connor attacks the demon. He takes the demon down with a stake and Cordy asks, "Can you take me out of here?" Connor offers his hand and she takes it as both run out of the Hyperion.
Act III:
In the lobby, Gunn, Fred and Angel discover the demon body and find Cordy is missing again. They believe that Wolfram & Hart have succeeded but Lorne joins them and explains that the demon on the floor is his client. He also reveals his reading of Cordy was just a small bit of what is to come. Angel arms Gunn with a weapon ready to look for Cordy.
In an abandoned warehouse filled with taxidermy animals, Cordy follows Connor into his "home." She realizes who she is with, Angel's son, and begins to ask questions. He's straightforward and confesses to locking Angel under the ocean and threatening her with a knife when he first came to this dimension. Cordy thanks him for his honesty.
As our couple sleeps in Wesley's bedroom, Lilah's cell phone rings and she answers it in another room. Wes is a light sleeper and he eavesdrops on her conversation about Cordy's return, location and their plan to extract her. Lilah dresses and kisses Wes goodbye. On her way out, she accidentally drops the dollar on the floor.
At the abandoned warehouse, Connor watches over Cordy as he secures the door and has set a few snares. She can't sleep as she tries to remember who she was and the loneliness she feels. Connor offers that she liked shoes and donuts and that she is a very brave person. Cordy cries because she knows something bad is going to happen and she doesn't know who to trust except for Connor. He returns to his post.
Back at the Hyperion, Fred marks a map as Gunn watches, rationalizing that Cordy could not be too far away. Angel returns from his search empty handed and a few seconds later Wes enters with the location of Cordy. Angel is relieved because he knows Connor will take good care of her.
At her new home, Cordy and Connor are sleeping in his bed but she suddenly awakes to find his hand on her breast. Before she can complain, Connor alerts her to intruders and he tosses her a sword as more men break in and she makes herself ready for battle.
Act IV:
The abandoned warehouse fills with Wolfram & Hart goons but many fall victim to Connor's traps, which helps to even the odds. Cordy and Connor fight side by side as one of the men sticks a camera on the wall.
From a top the building, Lilah watches the events unfold with a handheld monitor.
Connor continues to fight but he is taken down and Cordy is about to be carried off when Angel, Gunn and Fred arrive just in time to help fight off the rest of the men.
Lilah is enjoying the live action movie starring our heroes, when Carlo informs her that "It's done." She orders the units out and Carlo follows.
The men empty out of the room and Angel checks on Cordy. Angel wants to take Cordy home but she opts to stay with Connor because he is the only person that has been truthful. Angel accepts her decision and they leave but not before he offers his son some words, "Keep her safe."
Back at Wesley's apartment, he finds the dollar on the floor as he sits by the bed nursing a drink.
At the Hyperion, our crew investigates a noise coming from the main office. To their surprise, they find Lorne tied to a chair and with a big gaping hole in his forehead. Wolfram & Hart were not really after Cordy. They were after Lorne and what he knew about his reading of Cordy. Lorne reveals that a demon was used to suck out the information and now the evil firm knows everything.
Across town, Wesley pays a visit to Lilahs apartment because he doesn't like being "played". She reminds him that she was just doing her job and it isn't her fault if Wes decides to act upon what he hears. She reveals the night's plan to Wes but he isn't too happy with himself. Wes realizes that things are never simple.
The night is long in Los Angeles and at the abandoned warehouse Cordy finally sleeps peacefully while Connor watches perched by the window.
Likewise, at the Hyperion, Angel is also keeping watch over Cordy's empty bed as he gazes at the night sky from the open balcony
