Trivia * The voice-over in the beginning of this episode tells that Wolfram & Hart has influence in every major corporation, including "Weyland-Yutani." Weyland-Yutani is the ominous "company" in the Alien films, including AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004). Joss Whedon wrote the first-draft script for Alien: Resurrection (1997). * Another corporation under the Wolfram and Hart umbrella is "Yoyodyne". This is the company run by the evil Red Lectroids in The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984) as a cover for their activities on Earth.
Goofs * Continuity: The "To Do" list which Harmony writes for the demon summit changes. In the first shot, it is headed in bubble letters; in the ensuing close-up, it is not and has fewer items. * Factual errors: Fred says the bite marks are 17 millimeters apart, or 0.67 inch, which is much too small for an adult jaw.
Soundtrack * "Hey Sailor" Performed by Detroit Cobras

Episode 9, Season 5 Title: "Harm's Way"
Written by: Sarah Fain & Elizabeth Craft Directed by: Vern Gillum Original Air Date: January 14th, 2004
Teaser:
The show opens with a recruitment advert for Wolfram & Hart, covering the history of the firm, its networking capabilities and who they own before featuring the firm's new CEO, Angel and his change of policy. Now using its powers for good, Wolfram & Hart is the place where everyone matters, even the undead; if you don't kill anyone they won't kill you, so join the family!
Harmony's alarm beeps and she gets ready for work, vamping out whilst cleaning her teeth to make sure her fangs are clean. She arrives at Wolfram & Hart, stopping by her desk to collect her cup, and enters the staff room where each time she tries to make conversation she is snubbed. Unfazed, she pours Angel's morning blood and jumps the microwave queue pulling rank on Lorne's assistant, Danny, who complains.
Back at her desk she goes through her 'to do' list with Angel who is listening through headphones to a language learning tape and hasn't heard a word. Gunn arrives and they head to Angel's office, Harmony running behind them still trying to talk to Angel, but he shuts the door in her face. A tester arrives to check for traces of human blood and, pricking Harmony's finger, confirms that the test is negative just as Ely; another employee arrives for an appointment with Angel and heads into his office. Harmony takes Angel's blood into his office to find Angel has decapitated Ely.
Act I:
At Harmony's desk Angel and Gunn explain that Ely was dismembering virgins for fun in his spare time and the firm will not tolerate murder. Spike arrives to say his goodbyes, taunting Angel that he has someone (meaning Buffy) waiting for him, but Wesley is not happy for him to go as the Shanshu prophecy is still unresolved but Angel just wants him to leave and even agrees he can take some wheels. Spike thanks Fred for believing in him then turns to leave but is called back by a tearful Harmony who watching his conversation with Fred is upset that she doesn't warrant a goodbye, brushing her off he leaves.
In his office, Angel and the gang discuss the Vinjis and the Sahrvin, two rival demon clans who have been at war for five generations since the Vinjis used the wrong fork in a Sahrvin bonding ceremony and they took offence. They now wish to call a truce with the help of a demon rights activist, Tobias DuPree and Wolfram & Hart. Wesley reminds everyone how vicious they are so why not let them wipe each other out but Gunn thinks it will enhance the reputation of the firm to bring the two clans to peace. Danny, arrives with the seating plan for tomorrow's meet, Fred confirms the installation of the new state of the art weapons scanner and Gunn surprises them with the fact that along with the law he had some demon languages installed so he is prepared to do all the talking tomorrow; it is important that they learn the customs and everything is right as the clans are very sensitive. Harmony has researched the clans and tries to offer some help but Wesley just asks her to sort out lunch.
In the staff room, two female employees gossip about Fred and Harmony is again snubbed as she attempts to join the conversation. Angel summons her by phone and arriving in the lobby she finds that the camel which she ordered from the caterers has arrived a day early, apparently Camel meat is a delicacy and the clans will love it. Angel angrily instructs her to get rid of it and leaves as she breaks down crying in front of Fred, declaring that everyone hates her.
Harmony pours out her heart to Fred in a bar; she is no good at being evil so she can't even leave the firm and she wants to be more like Fred who has two hot guys, Wesley and Knox, after her. Fred agrees they are both hot but wonders why everyone at the office is so interested, Harmony tells her it is because she is at the top and Fred wonders why they don't ask Harmony for the gossip. Harmony doesn't have friends like in High School and can't mingle with the non undead people but Fred thinks she should mingle and so after a quick pep talk from Fred she goes to talk to a guy at the bar that has caught her eye, leaving Fred alone at the table. She sits down and he offers to get her a drink, commenting that she looks thirsty.
The alarm beeps in Harmony bedroom and waking up she realises she is naked in bed with the guy from last night and, asking him to leave, she tries to wake him only to discover he is dead and worse - there are two bite marks in his neck, "Ooops!"
Act II:
Harmony has wrapped the body in a sheet and attempts to dispose of it in the garbage chute but it hits the bin and rolls onto the floor so she heads to the basement and lifts it into the bin.
Arriving at her desk, Angel appears demanding his blood and commenting on the fact she is late.
In the staff room, Harmony puts Angel's mug in the microwave all the while trying to recall last nights events and concluding that it is Fred's fault for making her talk to him. As Dan approaches her, scolding her for jumping the microwave queue again, she announces is isn't her fault as she is suffering from stress and grabbing a flask of blood from the fridge she begins to gulp it down as the employees note her strange behaviour.
At her desk, Harmony has finished ordering the chips and dips when a call comes through from Detective Griffin of the LAPD. Angel takes the call and discovers that they have found a body at the city dump, as Gunn and Wesley arrive he gives them the bad news; it is Tobias DuPree and they need to do some serious damage control. Unbeknownst to them, it seems this is also Harmony's kill from last night, although she nearly gives herself away with her bizarre behaviour.
In Angel's office, a representative from the Vinjis clan is on the phone to Gunn, they are not happy about Tobias's death. Gunn translates and Angel instructs him to tell the clan that the summit can proceed - but they are looking for vengeance; they are on it says Angel as Gunn hangs up. Angel confirms that Fred has the body in her lab and is doing a post-mortem causing Harmony to rush off.
Harmony approaches the table in Fred's lab and asks Fred if she thinks it is possible for someone to have blacked out and not remember that they did it, Fred thinks it may be but doesn't want to be rushed and thinks Harmony has been sent by Angel to check up on her. She talks to Harmony about meeting up again for drinks as she continues to inspect the body discovering he was killed by a female vampire. Harmony is very nervous as Fred asks about the guy at the bar last night and Harmony tells her he was a loser who told her he was an astronaut and they both laugh.
As Harmony walks down the corridor panicking and planning her escape, she suddenly realises that the guy was bitten on the right which means she didn't do it and she kisses the nearest employee who happens to be the blood tester. He pricks her finger and the test is positive and so she punches him out cold.
Act III:
After hiding the blood tester in the nearest cupboard, Harmony walks down the corridor where she is approached by Lorne who is looking for Danny. She asks Lorne what happens to the blood tests and he tells her they get transmitted automatically to the lab just as he hears the blood tester groan from the cupboard. Pretending she didn't hear it she knocks Lorne out too and puts him in the maintenance cupboard with the other guy.
In the lab Harmony's result has just come back and she explains to Fred that she doesn't remember what happened and she thinks she must have been drugged because she was in the bar and then she woke up and he was there, dead. Harmony protests her innocence because she is a right biter which would mean the victims bite mark would be on the left but it is on the right on Tobias. Although it is a good argument Fred points out that Harmony's blood test is positive but Harmony is adamant that there must be a mistake; someone must have spiked her flask as she has been clean for eight months. Fred wants to believe her but decides to ring Angel assuring Harmony he will understand and everything will be fine but Harmony is certain he will just chop her head off. Fred dials Angel's number as Harmony looks on.
Harmony pushes Fred in the cupboard, taping her mouth as she apologises and offers to buy them all dinner when she gets to the bottom of things. Heading down the corridor she decides to check her flask for fingerprints but as she passes the lobby she hears one of the demons screech at Angel and Gunn that if they can't offer the killer it will have to be the blood of one of their own staff. Angel calls Harmony over, instructing her to find Fred as he wants to know what she found in the post-mortem.
In the staffroom, Dan is reaching for the flask in the fridge and Harmony accuses him of setting her up, vamping out she is convinced that he hates her and that he murdered Tobias and put him in her bed. Terrified, he is protesting his innocence when suddenly he is hit over the head and collapses to the ground as Harmony turns around and is confronted by the female employee responsible whom she deduces must have set her up, but why and who is she?
Act IV:
The woman, Tamica, used to sit next to Harmony in the typing pool, and has been there for 5 years unlike Harmony who was there for only 4 weeks before moving to the top job where she is now on the fast track. Angry at this Tamica has set Harmony up and is now ready to tell Angel how she has just saved Danny from Harmony too. As Tamica attacks her, Harmony vamps out thinking she has the advantage but Tamica is also a vampire and they begin to fight violently. Tamica admits that she slipped a drug in Harmony's drink at the bar and followed them back to her apartment where she waited until Harmony passed out before killing Tobias. They continue to fight, each grabbing wooden chopsticks as they adopt martial arts and attempt to stake each other. The fight spills out into the corridor.
Meanwhile the two demons clans are arguing across the boardroom table as Angel and Gunn look on helplessly. Suddenly Harmony and Tamica crash through the internal window falling onto the desk in front of them where Harmony then stakes Tamica and tells them she can explain. However, the two demon clans are now satisfied by this sacrifice and finally sit at the table to talk as Angel crosses his arms and glares at Harmony.
In Angel's office, Lorne, Fred and the blood tester have icepacks to their heads and Harmony looks down as Angel tells her she should have come to him. Harmony apologises to Fred and the others for hitting them and admits she was scared then turning to Angel tells him that she knows he didn't want her as his assistant and she made some bad choices but it is harder for her as she has no soul.
Gunn enters the room informing them that things are progressing in the boardroom and asking how it is going as Fred confirms that Harmony didn't kill anyone and the blood tester notifies Harmony that she will be clean in two days and he will be watching. Harmony decides it is best to clean out her desk and leave but Angel just asks her to bring some coffee.
Relaying her story to the bartender in the bar, Harmony is surprised when Spike arrives and she asks why he isn't on his way to see the slayer. Confessing he was half way there Spike then changed his mind when he remembered that he went out in a blaze of glory and saved the world and it wouldn't have much impact to then turn up three months later. Harmony tells him that one look at him and Buffy would forget herself and go all tingly and forget how horrible he was to her in the past and he is about to protest when he realises she is talking about herself. Harmony doesn't think she matters but Spike reminds her that she must have mattered to the girl who tried to frame her and realising that the girl hated her, Harmony is happier and smiles as she raises her glass.
