Plot Mysteriously free of Jasmine's spell, Fred must take refuge with dubious allies as Angel and the gang hunt her down. Jasmine's powers expand as the citizens of L.A. begin to develop a psychic connection which could potentially pave the way for collective consciousness. Using this new power to find Fred, she hides outside the city, desperately trying to find the cure for Jasmine's "love".
Goofs * Crew or equipment visible: When Angel is thrown into a bookshelf by Connor, the harness that holds Angel up is shown. His coat moves and reveals it. * Plot holes: Fred and Angel are only able to see Jasmine's true face when they touch her blood AND look at her, yet Gunn, Lorne, and Wesley seem to only touch her blood and lose their faith in her without looking at her.

Episode 19, Season 4 Title: "The Magic Bullet"
Written by: Jeffrey Bell Directed by: Jeffrey Bell Original Air Date: 16 April 2003
Teaser:
Beautiful scenes of blissful Los Angeles; shopkeepers smiling, people waving in cars all set to the sweet tones of The Beach Boys "Wouldn't It Be Nice". A man happily waves on pedestrians in front of his car at a traffic light when suddenly Fred bangs into his window as she is being chased Wesley and Gunn through the Promenade. They catch sight of her and grabbing hold of a woman, turn her around, only to find Fred had given the woman her jacket. They split up to continue the search as Fred hides in the sewer beneath the street, then heads off down the tunnel.
Act I:
The Hyperion Lobby is full of people, most of whom are in line at the main desk where Lorne is explaining to a man, who has offered his house in exchange, that there are no vacancies in the hotel. Jasmine descends the stairs and greets an enraptured crowd. As she stops by a pregnant woman to reassure her that her child will be healthy, Angel wonders how she always knows what to say. She explains that she looks into their hearts. Gunn and Wesley arrive at the main entrance shaking their heads, they proceed to the inner office to speak with Angel and Connor. On their confirmation that Fred has escaped them, Connor wants to kill her but Wesley reminds him that Jasmine wants her alive. As Jasmine chooses a man and a woman who follow her upstairs for a private meeting, Gunn wonders if he and Wes will ever be chosen.
Fred enters a shop, Magic Bullet Books. The owner remembers her from three days ago when she enquired about the possibility of mass hypnosis. Fred discovers that he has had no customers since the arrival of Jasmine, but far from being upset, the owner thinks this is great as he has never been happier, although he still believes in mind control he is no longer worried. He informs Fred that he knows what she is doing and as he takes a gun from the drawer and places it on the desk, she fearfully backs away. He then produces a book, 'Making Mind Control Work For You'; he knows her plan, to make sure the government learn about Jasmine's love too. Fred agrees but when she reaches for the book, he withholds it informing her that she has no need for it; she just has to trust in Jasmine.
In the sewers, Angel and Connor search Fred's trail. As Connor senses that Fred has recently been there, Angel asks him how old he was when he discovered he could track. Connor informs him that at age 5 or 6, was tied to a tree by Holtz who left him to escape and find his way home. In unison they sense that Jasmine needs them back at the hotel.
In her suite at the Hyperion, with Gunn, Wesley and Lorne, Jasmine is watching her "Good morning L.A." clip on a laptop computer, Wesley informs her that the design team will have her website ready to go online is a few days. Angel and Connor arrive, wondering how Jasmine was able to call them, she explains that they are all becoming connected and she wants to test this by trying to find Fred. They all join hands and she instructs them to close their eyes and picture Fred.
At a hotel, Fred approaches the desk asking for key 219. An old lady is smoking nearby and as Fred passes her she abruptly turns her head to stare.
Back in Jasmine's suite, she smiles, "I see Fred".
Fred ascends the stairs, approaching her room she passes a window an old man looks out at her. Still oblivious Fred continues. A man in a suit exits a room with a prostitute, suddenly they turn to stare, and Fred realizes now and begins to run. As she leaves the motel the old lady grabs her but Fred escapes and runs out into the street. A car chases her and as the driver swerves to run her down, he hits another car, causing a fire. Fred dives to the ground to avoid the flying glass and as she turns around the man exits his car, catches fire and walking through the flames towards her says, "Fred, don't be afraid!"
Act II:
In the Hyperion, the group is still connected when Jasmine's hand burns Connors and he breaks the circle. Angel suggests taking her to a doctor but she refuses and confirms that Fred got away but all those who love her know what Fred looks like and they will find her. She then requests they send up a pair of sisters from downstairs to visit her.
Fred walks a lonely roadway when a passing car throws on the brakes and reverses back towards her. She panics and trips off the precipice on the side of the road rolling down the hill, crashes through a hole and onto a midget demon. Fred grapples with him until he screams he is a vegetarian as Fred grabs an axe to defend herself. She examines a cut on her arm and commands him to sit and be quiet while she tries to figure things out.
Back at the Hyperion, Wesley and the gang assemble Jasmine's followers in the lobby where they show a blown-up picture of Fred describing her as a monster that needs to be found. Lorne makes the evening announcements, giving a rundown on Jasmine for the day, and then introduces an Open Mic Night dedicated to Jasmine. An array of followers then get up in a montage scene: a small boy reads a poem, an overwrought girl cries, a stoner-guy leads a cheer, a deaf woman signs how she wants to kill Fred, and Angel and Connor do a duet about Jasmine to the tune of, "Mandy".
In the thicket, the midget demon is surly and explains he is on the run because of Jasmine. Fred explains she is too and they bicker briefly on how to stop Jasmine before he says he wants to sleep. He moves a blanket and uncovers freshly severed hands. He acts sheepish, then admits they are his and attacks Fred, wrestling her to the floor. They struggle and she grabs the ax and embeds it in his skull. She gets up and looks at her cut again, suddenly a look of clarity comes over her face.
Outside The Magic Bullet bookstore, crowds of Jasmine's followers back Fred against the store entrance. She looks determined and says out load, "Here I am. Come and get me."
In her bedroom at the Hyperion, Jasmine opens her eyes and says, "Fred."
Fred enters the bookstore and moves behind the counter as Jasmine and the A.I. gang enter. In thanks for his help, Jasmine tells the bookstore owner that Oswald acted alone when Kennedy was assassinated then turns to Fred and tells her she loves her. Fred says, "I'm so sorry," to which Jasmine replies she forgives her. But Fred clarifies she is apologizing to Angel as she pulls the gun from the drawer shooting Jasmine. The bullet pierces her shoulder, exits her body then hits Angel in the shoulder. Angel vamps out, crossing the room, he grabs Fred and the gun and thrusts it under her chin.
Act III:
In the bookstore, Angel continues to press the gun against Fred's throat and cocks it. She tells him to look at Jasmine and he sees the maggoty face that Fred saw. Jasmine realizes to herself that her blood is the problem. She turns to Connor and says Angel has been infected; he is as dead to them as Fred. Fred has reclaimed the gun, pointing it at Jasmine she unloads the clip into Jasmine's body. Connor wrestles the gun away from Fred and knocks her down and attacks Angel as well. Angel grabs an unconscious Fred and begins to retreat but Jasmine tells Connor to let them go. She orders Connor and the clerk to stay away from her blood and proceeds to tell the clerk to burn the store to the ground.
Back in the Hyperion lobby there is a huge feast going on. Wesley, Gunn, and Lorne complain how the food would be better if Jasmine were there. They are also having uncomfortable vibes concerning Jasmine when she enters the hotel, a cloak covering her wounds, and they notice Angel is missing. They rush off to meet with her.
In Jasmine's room, she explains that Fred infected Angel and is now lost to all of them. She lectures that her kindness opened the door to Fred's hate, and by trying to save Fred she lost Angel. She asserts that they must eradicate their hate.
Downstairs in the lobby, Jasmine looks at everyone and chooses three followers: a biker, a woman, and a man, she also beckons Connor to follow her as well. Wesley, Gunn, and Lorne contemplate the situation with Angel and Fred.
In an alley, Fred regains consciousness as Angel broods against a wall. Fred explains that Jasmine's blood broke her spell when it mingles with their own as she was trying to get the blood off of Jasmine's blouse. Fred begins to cry, saying she has been so alone and scare. Angel consoles her, assuring Fred that he sees a champion in her. She tells Angel they need more of Jasmine's blood and Angel has a realization and starts to explain it when he hears a crowd of people. Fred begins to kiss Angel, hoping the crowd will ignore them. They don't buy it and begin to attack.
At the Hyperion, Jasmine leads the three people down the hallway to her room. As she enters her bedroom Connor stays behind to guard the hallway.
Inside Jasmine's room, she lines the three people up and orders them to take their clothes off. She looks in a mirror, removes her cloak, and concentrates as her bullet wounds which instantly heal.
Meanwhile, in Cordelia's bedroom, Cordy is still comatose. Two of Jasmine's followers, praying to Cordy, get up and leave. Angel peers in through the window and falls inside, knocking over the candles as Fred follows. They observe that Cordy won't feel anything because she is brain dead, which makes it easer. Angel takes out a knife, kisses Cordy's forehead, and apologizes. He is about to bring the knife down when Cordy's hand suddenly shoots up and grasps his wrist.
Act IV:
In Cordelia's bedroom, Angel tries to wake Cordy but Fred persuades him it may just be a reaction of her comatose state.
Connor, standing guard in front of Jasmine's room, closes his eyes in a moment of bliss as a green glow emanates from within her room.
Back in Cordy's bedroom, Angel has drained some of Cordy's blood into a cup just as Lorne enters. He pauses to say a few words of gratitude over Crody's sleeping body when he notices blood from her wrist on the blanket. He begins to protest but Angel quickly places his hand over Lorne's mouth.
The glow from Jasmine's room continues to glow as she steps fourth into the hall, completely regenerated. Connor asks about the people who entered the room with her and she calmly states, "I ate them."
Lorne, sitting on floor of the hall, takes a swig from his flask as Angel asks if he's sure he is able to help them.
Descending the stairs to the lobby, Lorne begins his ruse on the people still gathered as he approached Wes and Gunn. Wesley notices the cut on Lorne's wrist, but he deflects the question and tells them they are needed by Jasmine.
In the upstairs hallway, Lorne leads Wes and Gunn to a spare bedroom. As they enter, Lorne follows with a baseball bat in hand; a thud and yell are heard behind the closed door.
Moment's later, Fred explains to them that Angel figured out that since Cordy gave birth to Jasmine they might share a blood link as well as a mystical one. Gunn, Lorne and Wesley are disheartened by the realization. Fred questions how can they fight something so huge and powerful even with a synthetic analogue to the blood. Angel won't leave the Hyperion without Connor and Wes offers to kidnap him, again.
Later, Wesley brings Connor down the hall and into the spare room. Angel grabs him from behind as Wes cuts him across the chest with the knife and applies Cordy's blood to the wound. Connor struggles but slowly the blissfulness leaves him and they explain that they were are tricked. Connor begins to leave the room when he suddenly yells out to expose the gang as they all stand together in shock.
